Alan Barnes is an experienced teacher of saxophone, clarinet and improvisation.

 

He is happy to teach on Zoom.

 

He regularly instructs on courses for Higham Hall, Loire Music, Mehr Clef and Henley Jazz Workshops as well as taking part in the Steve Waterman Annual Contemporary Big Band Jazz Weekend.

 

Subjects include breathing, sound, phrasing, swing, technical and jazz exercises, theory and stylistic considerations.

 

The emphasis is always on enjoying playing and practising.

He can provide PDFs in advance of any tunes and etudes (download examples below) and is also happy to work on material suggested by the student.

 

Each lesson is tailored to the individual requirements of the student.
